Curry’s involvement in the franchise began with a cameo in the 2024 original film, where he appeared as a plague-masked figure connected to a lethal, livestreamed game. While his initial appearance was brief, Leavy noted that the production team always intended for the character to anchor a larger narrative. The sequel, which shifts the setting from a hotel to a hospital, expands the scope of the deadly operation and provides the actor with significantly more screen time than his previous appearance.

Since suffering a major stroke in 2012, Curry had largely moved away from live-action work to focus on voice acting. His commitment to this horror project marked a rare return to the screen. Production company Fuzz on the Lens confirmed that the film will be dedicated to both Curry and fellow horror icon Tony Todd, who also appeared in the first installment and passed away in November 2024. No release date for the sequel has been established, but the completed footage serves as a final testament to the actor's enduring influence on the genre.
