Cascadia Windows Secures Innovation Award for Wildfire Resilience

Cascadia Windows & Doors has earned the 2026 Window + Door Award for its Universal Series Wildfire Resistant line, the first Canadian windows to pass the rigorous California SFM Standard 12-7A-2. This recognition highlights a shift toward integrating fire protection with high-performance energy efficiency in North American residential and commercial architecture.

The Langley-based manufacturer developed the Wildfire Resistant (WFR) and WFR Plus series to address the vulnerability of building envelopes in wildfire-prone regions. By utilizing their existing fiberglass frame platform, the company maintained the thermal efficiency and design flexibility of their earlier Universal Series, which previously gained Passive House Institute certification. The WFR Plus option advances this design by incorporating fire-retardant resin technology into the framing system.

Company President Mike Battistel noted that resilience is becoming a critical component of modern building standards. The California testing protocol used for the certification has gained wider adoption, now influencing federal wildfire guidance in Canada. The award will be formally presented during the GlassBuild America event in Las Vegas this September, marking a decade of innovation for the firm's core window platform.
