Epson Targets Entry-Level Sign Shops with New SureColor Print-Cut System

Epson America is pushing into the competitive signage market with the SureColor S7170 Print Cut Edition, a $19,995 bundle that pairs its 64-inch solvent printer with a Summa S1 D140 cutter. The package aims to help smaller print businesses bring outsourced finishing work in-house with a standardized, out-of-the-box workflow.

The system centers on the SureColor S7170 printer, which utilizes a 4-color UltraChrome GS3 ink set and a 1.33-inch PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead. By replacing traditional cartridges with 800 mL high-volume ink packs, Epson claims it has reduced plastic waste while improving operational uptime. The printer also features Nozzle Verification Technology and temperature sensors designed to maintain color consistency across long runs.

To handle the finishing side, the bundle includes the Summa S1 D140, a 54-inch cutter capable of applying 600 grams of downforce. This allows operators to process laminated graphics and intricate sticker jobs with higher precision. The setup relies on a barcode-driven workflow that automates registration mark detection, reducing the need for manual user intervention during production. Available through authorized resellers starting August 2026, the kit includes Epson Edge Print PRO software and a one-year subscription to ONYX Go Plus for end-to-end management.
