Target Expands Beauty Portfolio with New In-Store Studio Concept

Target is set to launch a dedicated beauty destination across 600 locations on September 10, marking a pivot toward high-end retail. The new Beauty Studio features a curated mix of 90 prestige and emerging brands, aiming to blend the convenience of big-box shopping with a specialty-store experience.

The initiative introduces over 1,600 products, with two-thirds of the featured labels entirely new to the retailer’s inventory. By deploying dedicated Beauty Advisors and interactive center tables, the company seeks to move beyond its traditional role as a provider of everyday essentials, positioning itself as a hub for discovery in skincare, fragrance, and premium haircare. Amanda Nusz, senior vice president of merchandising, noted that the studio is designed to help guests transition from buying their standard routines to exploring trending innovations.

To drive engagement, the physical spaces will feature rotating product highlights, including "Editors' Picks" and exclusive Target Circle rewards. The rollout will be marked by in-store events on September 26, where the first 100 visitors at participating locations will receive promotional bonuses. This structural shift reflects a broader strategy to revitalize growth through elevated in-store presentations and a more specialized, service-oriented approach to the competitive beauty market.
