Post Office taps OneView Commerce for £141m Horizon replacement

The Post Office has awarded a £141 million contract to OneView Commerce to overhaul its legacy Horizon system. This initiative marks a significant step in the organization's five-year transformation plan, aiming to replace outdated branch technology with a cloud-native platform designed for modern retail and mobile services.

OneView Commerce will collaborate with Accenture, which currently manages the day-to-day operations and backend development of the existing Horizon infrastructure. The new electronic point of sale (EPoS) platform utilizes an API-first architecture, enabling a suite of functions including self-service kiosks, mobile services, and enhanced customer engagement tools.

Linda Palanza, CEO of OneView Commerce, stated that the solution is designed to meet the Post Office’s objectives without the need for extensive customization. The deployment will proceed in phases, with the project currently in the initial stages of planning and delivery arrangements. This transition is intended to provide postmasters with more reliable digital infrastructure to support their daily operations and community services.
