The loss prompted an outpouring of grief from across the musical spectrum. Eminem shared a previously private letter he received from Parton after they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame together in 2022. In the note, Parton praised the rapper’s skill and admitted to feeling an unexplained connection to him, despite never having met in person. Eminem described her as a superstar in every sense, thanking her for the unexpected kindness.
Beyond her chart-topping catalog, Parton was defined by her humanitarian work, notably through the Dollywood Foundation, which she launched in 1988 to promote child literacy. Tributes poured in from contemporaries and peers: Elton John remembered her as a giant of an artist with the kindest heart, while Beyoncé called her a North Star and a barometer for excellence. Others, including Jack White, Megyn Kelly, and Sabrina Carpenter, highlighted her rare combination of artistic brilliance and personal warmth.
Her passing was confirmed by her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who served as her head of security for over twenty years. In accordance with her final wishes, Parton will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. Her family has requested that fans honor her memory by donating to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library rather than sending flowers, marking one final act of the philanthropy that defined her life.
