Apple Updates Mac mini and Mac Studio with M5 and M6 Silicon

Apple has refreshed its professional desktop lineup, introducing the Mac mini and Mac Studio equipped with the company’s latest M6 and M5 series chips. Designed to accelerate on-device AI processing and high-end creative workflows, the new hardware brings significant boosts in memory bandwidth, connectivity, and multi-display support to the desktop ecosystem.

The updated Mac mini now features the M6 and M5 Pro chips, housed in a compact 5-inch square chassis. The M6 model utilizes a 12-core hybrid architecture, incorporating hardware-accelerated ray tracing and a dual 16-core Neural Engine to reach memory bandwidths of 153 GB/s. For more intensive tasks, the M5 Pro configuration provides up to 15 cores and 307 GB/s bandwidth, supporting up to 8TB of storage for demanding professional projects.

For users requiring extreme computational power, the refreshed Mac Studio leverages the M5 Max and M5 Ultra processors. The M5 Ultra, which offers up to 80 GPU cores and a massive 1.2 TB/s memory bandwidth, is tailored for tasks such as real-time 8K color grading and complex VFX rendering. Both systems now feature expanded connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and support for up to eight external displays on the M5 Ultra models. These machines are currently available through B&H, with configurations designed to scale from standard creative suites to enterprise-level data science applications.
