MRCOOL Enters RV Market With Ultra-Quiet TravelCool Heat Pump

Jason Ingram, managing member of MRCOOL, aims to silence the roar of mobile climate control with the launch of the TravelCool system. Operating at a modest 55 decibels, the 15,000 BTU unit targets a growing demographic of 37 million Americans who prioritize residential-grade comfort while navigating extreme weather conditions on the road.

The Kentucky-based HVAC manufacturer is pivoting from its residential roots to address the booming outdoor recreation economy, which is projected to reach $35 billion by 2031. As RV shipments continue to climb, reaching a forecasted 349,000 units this year, younger buyers are demanding energy-efficient technology that avoids the bulk and noise of legacy rooftop units. MRCOOL’s new hardware stands 11 inches tall, designed to reduce wind resistance while providing both heating and cooling capabilities.

Technical specifications for the TravelCool series include:

    • 15,000 BTU cooling and 10,236 BTU heating capacity for large coaches.
    • DC inverter technology to manage power consumption for off-grid setups.
    • Operational noise levels capped at 55 dB in Eco mode and 59 dB in Turbo mode.
    • Compatibility with both ducted and ductless configurations.
    • Integrated smartphone app and remote control management.
This launch marks the company's first formal expansion into the mobile living space. By utilizing R-32 refrigerant and streamlining the rooftop footprint, the firm intends to compete directly with traditional RV cooling systems. Each unit is supported by a two-year parts warranty, signaling an attempt to replicate the brand loyalty MRCOOL has established within the home-installation market.
