Colossal Cupcakes Liquidation Puts Cleveland Landmark on the Auction Block

After fifteen years as a downtown Cleveland fixture, Colossal Cupcakes is shuttering its three locations and clearing its inventory through a massive online liquidation. The sale, managed by Auction Factory National, features nearly 300 lots ranging from heavy-duty commercial kitchen equipment to the bakery's signature velvet-throne furniture.

The auction, which concludes Sunday, August 30, at 8:00 p.m. ET, consolidates the contents of all three former Colossal Cupcakes shops into a single Cleveland warehouse. The inventory represents a complete production setup, including four Hobart mixers and an array of soft-serve machines, headlined by a Taylor 339-27 model valued at $22,000. Beyond the kitchen, the sale includes the eccentric decor that defined the bakery’s aesthetic, such as giant cupcake props, pink velvet Chesterfield sofas, and baroque-style throne chairs. Chase Slepak, co-owner of Auction Factory National, noted that the high-end equipment was well-maintained throughout its tenure, offering a rare opportunity for new operators to acquire professional-grade gear at a fraction of retail cost. The liquidation follows the July 2026 announcement by founder Kelly Kandah that the business, which survived a 2020 store destruction and subsequent rebuilding, would officially close its doors.
