Produced via the traditional method, Crémant d'Alsace now accounts for four out of every ten bottles of AOC wine originating from the region. Its market dominance outpaces competitors like Crémant de Loire and Crémant de Bourgogne, driven by a combination of consistent craftsmanship and competitive pricing. Between July 2025 and June 2026, U.S. consumers purchased 1.291 million bottles, cementing the country as the category's third-largest export market by value.
While the classic Brut remains the industry cornerstone, producers are shifting toward premium expressions. The evolving portfolio now features vintage-dated bottlings, extended lees ageing, and single-varietal cuvées, including 100% Chardonnay. Pinot Noir-based rosés have also risen to represent 13% of total production, alongside a marked increase in zero-dosage and Extra Brut styles. Foulques Aulagnon, Export Manager at the Alsace Wines Board, notes that the category’s momentum in the American market stems from a growing appreciation for its versatility and character, signaling a robust trajectory for the next half-century.
