McKendree Hickory Wins Leadville 100 Debut as Adrian Macdonald Takes Third Title

Hickory crossed the finish line in 19:39:12 after a strategic climb through the field, finishing ahead of former champion Jacquie Mannhard and local runner Emma Wood. On the men's side, Macdonald leveraged a conservative start to claim the lead by the halfway point, ultimately finishing in 15:47:23. The event, held in the shadows of the Willow Fire, required organizers to implement a modified course that bypassed the traditional Sugarloaf and Powerline sections while maintaining the race's grueling high-altitude character.

This year’s race saw 387 finishers out of more than 650 starters, ranging from 18 to 72 years old. Beyond the podium, the weekend was defined by notable milestones: local resident Eric Pence completed his 31st Leadville 100, setting a new event record for total finishes. Additionally, teacher and coach Pat Cade raised over $90,000 for the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation by starting hours behind the pack and passing 628 runners throughout the day. Kimo Seymour, President of Events and Media at Life Time, credited the cooperation of local authorities and public safety agencies for allowing the "Race Across the Sky" to proceed despite the recent regional challenges.
