Google veteran Sonia Wadhawan joins Walmart to lead AI partnerships

Sonia Wadhawan has moved to Walmart as the new Vice President of Partnerships for the retailer’s AI Acceleration, Product & Design division. After a two-decade tenure at Google, she joins the team to oversee strategic ecosystems as the company aggressively pivots toward agentic technology and AI-driven commerce.

Wadhawan previously served as Director of Generative AI Commerce Partnerships at Google, where she managed large-scale technology deployments. Her new role at Walmart involves working closely with Executive Vice President Daniel Danker, who emphasized that her arrival is timed to help the retailer navigate a landscape where AI is fundamentally altering product design and industry collaboration.

Beyond her corporate experience, Wadhawan maintains a seat on the advisory board of Telamon, a firm focused on infrastructure projects ranging from telecommunications to autonomous vehicle systems. Her appointment follows a series of recent high-level executive shifts at Walmart, reflecting the company's broader push to integrate automated and agentic tools into its global retail operations.
