Camila Morrone Joins Cast of Miami Vice ’85 Reboot

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Dylan Clark, aims to capture the aesthetic of the original series' first season. Jordan and Butler are slated to portray the legendary detective duo Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs and James “Sonny” Crockett, respectively. Rounding out the primary cast are Alden Ehrenreich and Whitney Peak, with production scheduled to commence later this year. The project will be filmed entirely in IMAX to emphasize the visual atmosphere of the Miami setting.

Online speculation has already reached a fever pitch, with fans theorizing that Morrone may step into the role of Detective Gina, originally played by Saundra Santiago. Despite the public enthusiasm surrounding the casting, the project has faced skepticism from the original series' star, Don Johnson. When asked about the reboot earlier this year, Johnson dismissed the endeavor with a blunt assessment, stating the production simply does not represent the spirit of the original show. Regardless of the critique, the studio is moving forward with a script penned by Dan Gilroy, banking on the combined star power of its lead actors to anchor the franchise’s return.
