Noah Centineo Reflects on Friendship with Zegler and Sobriety

During a candid appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Noah Centineo praised Rachel Zegler as one of the most talented artists working today. The actor, who met Zegler at a social gathering in Atlanta years ago, also opened up about his past battle with substance abuse and his path to recovery.

While Centineo and Zegler have never shared the screen, their friendship has remained a constant for the Black Adam star. He described their initial meeting at Zachary Levi’s home as an immediate connection, noting that Zegler quickly became a central figure in his social circle. Beyond his admiration for her vocal and acting range, Centineo took the opportunity to defend his Gundam co-star Sydney Sweeney against online criticism, dismissing public perception of her as inaccurate compared to his personal experience working alongside her.

Transitioning to his personal history, Centineo spoke about his decision to get sober. He described reaching a pivotal moment at age 21 when he realized his substance use had fundamentally altered his perspective and identity. Attributing his recovery to both family support and the privilege of accessing necessary resources, the actor emphasized that he recognized the need for change before his situation deteriorated further. He now approaches his professional responsibilities with a renewed focus, prioritizing his health and career growth over the destructive patterns of his youth.
