The pilot centers on an actress facing a career-ending scandal on the eve of the Oscars and a struggling director contemplating an exit from the industry. Dawson, who wrote and directed the project, describes the tone as a blend of "Hacks" and "American Horror Story." With no platform currently backing the show, he has turned to his social media following to identify potential screening cities, receiving thousands of requests for locations ranging from New York to Houston.
This project arrives four years after a massive reckoning sidelined Dawson’s career. In 2020, resurfaced clips featuring racial slurs, blackface, and inappropriate remarks regarding minors led YouTube to indefinitely demonetize his channels and prompted retailers like Target to pull his books from shelves. While Dawson initially attempted to distance himself from the content, his 2020 video, "Taking Accountability," saw him admit that his past use of racial stereotypes and shock humor was inexcusable. Following a 15-month hiatus, he returned to the platform in 2021 with a paranormal series, eventually shifting his focus toward personal milestones, including his 2023 marriage to Ryland Adams.
