The upcoming facility will feature Ocado’s proprietary technology suite, including 600s bots, on-grid robotic picking systems, and fully automated freezer units. While Ocado provides the backend infrastructure, nemlig will maintain control over its existing webshop and last-mile delivery logistics, integrating the new warehouse into its current supply chain. The company expects to begin transitioning its order volumes into the facility by 2028.
Tim Steiner, CEO of Ocado Group, emphasized that the deal highlights the flexibility of the Ocado Smart Platform, noting its ability to drive profitable economics for pureplay retailers. Stefan Plenge, founder and CEO of nemlig, stated that the partnership is a critical step in scaling the business and enhancing service efficiency without sacrificing the low-price strategy that defines their brand in Denmark.
