Court documents from 2020 detail a pattern of intimidation that followed Hickerson’s arrest in Wyoming, where he was detained for striking the actress in the face. Despite a court order prohibiting contact, prosecutors presented evidence that Hickerson bombarded Panettiere with messages, threatening to release damaging information to ruin her reputation if she did not drop the case. While Hickerson was initially sentenced to jail, his term was later commuted to probation, allowing the relationship to continue in secret against the wishes of the actress’s inner circle.
Following the actress’s death at 2:32 pm, police incident reports revealed that Hickerson and his brother, Zach, were the ones who discovered her unresponsive. Authorities noted that while Zach appeared visibly distressed during resuscitation attempts, Hickerson remained largely unmoved until the actress was pronounced dead. He later handed officials a bag of medication, claiming it belonged to her. Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, has since publicly criticized the presence of the man her family had long attempted to distance from her daughter’s life, framing his continued involvement as a source of deep concern for those closest to the star.
