Matthew and Camila McConaughey Recruit a Champion Stallion for Tequila

When a horse arrives in the barrel racing circuit already named Adios Pantalones, the marketing strategy effectively writes itself. Matthew and Camila McConaughey have officially partnered their organic tequila brand with the sport’s highest-earning stallion and his rider, Tricia Aldridge, in a playful expansion of their “Official Tequila Of” campaign.

The collaboration brings the brand to the rodeo arena, with the horse and Aldridge set to compete at the 102nd annual Caldwell Night Rodeo in Idaho on August 19. For the McConaugheys, the move is a deliberate attempt to inject levity into a premium spirits market they feel has become overly serious and burdened by industry jargon. The couple aims to strip away the “sommelier sermon” often surrounding high-end tequila, favoring a brand identity rooted in humor and accessibility.

Despite the irreverent marketing, the production process behind the label remains rigorous. Co-founder Andrew Chrisomalis noted that the spirit is USDA-certified organic, a standard pushed heavily by Camila McConaughey. Distilled in Amatitán, Jalisco, the final product is the result of 47 distinct iterations, focusing on a clean profile free of pesticides and herbicides. Matthew McConaughey, who evaluates his spirits on a personal checklist ranging from flavor to the quality of his dreams the following morning, claims the brand meets every criteria. While the couple acknowledges that mixing marriage with business presents challenges, they maintain that their shared history—the pair met over margaritas 19 years ago—provides the necessary foundation to keep their suggestive brand humor from crossing into discomfort.
