His professional background includes a tenure as President and CEO of AGY Holdings Corp., a global manufacturer of high-performance glass fibers. Earlier in his career, he held key finance and business development positions at Lear Corporation, Masland Corporation, IBM, and Wachovia Corporation.

Burns holds an economics degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
