Stratos Wealth Acquires RPI Financial to Expand Midwest Footprint

Stratos Wealth Enterprises has acquired Naperville-based RPI Financial Life Planners, a move expected to add approximately $400 million in assets to the firm’s portfolio. The deal marks the 12th partnership for Stratos since receiving a strategic investment from SEI in 2025, signaling a continued push for regional growth.

Under the terms of the agreement, RPI will retain its brand identity and existing team in Illinois, maintaining the planning philosophy it has cultivated over four decades. While the transaction adds significant scale to Stratos, the focus remains on integrating RPI into a broader network that provides access to enhanced technology and operational infrastructure. David Blaydes, founder of RPI, noted that the decision followed a multi-year search for a partner capable of supporting the firm’s long-term objectives without compromising its client-centric culture.

Jeff Concepcion, CEO of Stratos, emphasized that the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy of backing advisory teams that prioritize planning-led wealth management and advisor autonomy. Arthur Worthington, managing director at SEI, characterized the partnership as a natural fit for two organizations centered on the belief that effective financial advice requires a deep understanding of individual client goals. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
