Goodwin University Brings No-Cost Vocational Training to Vermont

Goodwin University, a nonprofit institution headquartered in East Hartford, is opening enrollment for its fall semester starting September 8. The partnership allows participants to pursue credentials in fields ranging from healthcare administration and funeral services to entrepreneurship and digital workplace skills. Having operated similar SNAP-supported initiatives in Connecticut for over a decade, the university aims to remove financial barriers that often prevent low-income individuals from entering high-demand sectors.

University President Mark Scheinberg described the initiative as a pragmatic solution to workforce development. By delivering training in a flexible, online format, the school intends to connect residents with stable, well-paying employment. Beyond short-term skill building, the curriculum includes associate degree paths in human services and business administration, alongside certified production technician training. Prospective students may register for the 2026-27 academic year through the university’s dedicated SNAP portal.
