Hayden Panettiere Toxicology Results Delayed as Investigation Continues

The body of actress Hayden Panettiere has been released to her family following an autopsy that revealed no immediate signs of physical trauma. While the 36-year-old was found unresponsive at a South Carolina Airbnb on Sunday, investigators now warn that definitive toxicology results could take up to three months to process.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the star, known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, may be laid to rest before officials determine the official cause of death. Because the initial medical examination failed to identify any physical injuries or obvious explanations for her passing, the toxicology report serves as the primary mechanism for understanding the circumstances surrounding her final hours.

Police reports from the scene indicate that emergency responders arrived at the residence at approximately 1:50 p.m. to find the actress unresponsive. Despite CPR efforts, she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. Authorities recovered a collection of medications from the scene, which were provided by her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. While reports suggest these medications included nine distinct substances, investigators have cautioned that the presence of these drugs does not inherently imply they contributed to her death.

Beyond the medical evidence, the investigation remains active as authorities piece together her final movements. Forensic experts are working to synthesize the 911 audio, her personal medical history, and the laboratory findings to reach a conclusion. Until that analysis is finalized, the specific cause and manner of her death remain officially undetermined.
