Investors Scrutinize Emergent BioSolutions After NARCAN Impairment

A $191.3 million non-cash impairment charge on NARCAN has triggered a securities investigation into Emergent BioSolutions. The write-down, driven by mounting competition and pricing pressure in the naloxone market, arrived alongside the company’s second-quarter earnings report, prompting legal scrutiny over potential violations of federal securities law.

The impairment charge, which nearly doubled the company’s reported adjusted EBITDA of $97 million, has drawn the attention of the law firm Levi & Korsinsky. Analysts are now questioning the company’s previous disclosures regarding the carrying value of its naloxone franchise. As share prices retreated following the announcement, the firm is evaluating whether Emergent BioSolutions and its officers provided misleading statements to shareholders.

Investors who incurred losses during this period are currently being asked to provide brokerage records to facilitate a formal review. Levi & Korsinsky, a firm recognized in the ISS Top 50, is handling these claims on a contingency basis. Participation does not require court appearances or upfront legal fees, as investigators work to determine if the financial volatility stems from corporate negligence or systemic shifts in the pharmaceutical market.
