The Soho departure follows the company’s recent expansion strategy, which includes a flagship site at 69-71 Charing Cross Road. Spanning 5,090 square feet, the Charing Cross location features a mezzanine level and an immersive "Twinkle Twinkle Fairground" experience, signaling a move toward larger, destination-style stores. While Pop Mart did not provide a specific reason for closing the Soho branch, the consolidation appears to follow the successful launch of its newer, more spacious venues across the city.
Despite the reduction in its Soho presence, the brand maintains a significant footprint in London with several standalone stores and dedicated spaces within major retailers like Harrods and Hamleys. Ian Ashton, Head of UK Retail at Pop Mart, previously noted that the Charing Cross site was designed to serve as a hub for collectors, emphasizing the brand's focus on creating interactive environments for its growing community of fans.
