Cardi B Turns Teenage Shoplifting Habit Into Old Navy Partnership

Before landing a lucrative deal as the face of Old Navy’s fall 2026 denim campaign, Cardi B was a regular at the retailer for reasons far less professional. The rapper recently admitted she used to shoplift from the store during her high school years, calling her current collaboration a full-circle moment.

The Grammy winner shared the confession during an August 12 Instagram Live, crediting the brand with helping her maintain her style as a teenager in the South Bronx. Today, the relationship is strictly business, with the retailer’s "The Most Wanted" campaign featuring the rapper alongside stars like Wisdom Kaye and Quen Blackwell. The partnership appears to be driving significant retail traffic, as the $49.99 Curvy Extra High-Waisted Cuffed Wide-Leg jeans she promoted sold out shortly after the August 4 debut.

Beyond the marketing push, Cardi B noted that Old Navy denim accommodates her proportions better than many high-end luxury labels. This practical fit is a sharp departure from her teenage years, when she felt insecure about her figure. She previously told PEOPLE that she often layered tights under her jeans to create a fuller silhouette, fearing her frame did not match the beauty standards of her community. Now, she characterizes the retailer as a "forever brand" that she continues to shop at for her children, citing the specific variety of cuts that fit her daughter’s long legs.
