Surgical Assistant Designs IRRI-Nique System to Curb Post-Op Infections

A Norfolk-based surgical assistant has developed the IRRI-Nique, a closed irrigation system designed to streamline scalp and hair cleaning during procedures. By replacing traditional manual scrubbing with a specialized, contained washing mechanism, the invention aims to minimize the risk of complications that often lead to secondary surgeries and extended hospital stays.

The patent-pending device addresses a persistent clinical challenge: maintaining sterile conditions while performing hygiene tasks in the operating room. Beyond improving patient outcomes, the design prioritizes ease of use for medical staff, potentially shortening recovery times by lowering infection rates. A functional prototype is currently available for evaluation.

InventHelp is representing the system, which is now open for licensing or acquisition by medical manufacturers and marketers. Interested parties can reference file number RKH-1247 when contacting the company’s Pittsburgh headquarters.
