The conference arrives at a critical juncture: while treatment options for heart failure continue to evolve, fewer than one in four eligible patients with HFrEF currently receive full guideline-directed medical therapy. The event seeks to address this disparity by convening a multidisciplinary care team, including nurses, pharmacists, and physicians, to translate complex science into actionable bedside strategies.
This year’s program marks a record for the organization, featuring more than 50 scientific sessions and 750 ePosters. A central focus is placed on device innovation, highlighted by the dedicated Devices in Heart Failure session on October 9. Attendees will also examine advancements in areas ranging from cardio-oncology and transplantation to the integration of artificial intelligence in clinical workflows.
Beyond technical data, the meeting addresses the human element of cardiac care. Keynote speaker Kristin Flanary, known as "Lady Glaucomflecken," will present "Wife and Death," a session detailing the caregiver experience following sudden cardiac arrest. This focus on the patient-provider connection, supported by speed mentoring and research hubs, underscores the society's goal of fostering collaboration across all levels of medical experience.
