Artisanal PV Enters Residential Solar Market with Custom Carport Design

The company officially entered the residential market this week with the launch of a new website showcasing its flagship 18-by-15-foot unit. Unlike standard, utilitarian solar structures, the Artisanal PV design features an aluminum frame with exterior flanges. This allows homeowners to integrate customized material inlays—such as wood molding, brick veneers, or tiles—to match existing architecture. According to Fields, the design directly addresses common barriers to solar adoption, including roof orientation issues, home-owners association restrictions, and the preservation requirements of historic properties.

The system covers approximately 270 square feet, providing enough space for one large SUV or two compact sedans. Equipped with twelve standard residential panels, the unit offers a rated capacity between 4.8 and 5.2 kilowatts. This modular approach targets the nearly 49% of U.S. housing stock that the National Renewable Energy Laboratory estimates cannot accommodate traditional rooftop solar installations. Artisanal PV is currently accepting $150 fully refundable reservations, with production scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 and initial deliveries expected in late spring 2027.
