TerraPower Secures Korean Partnerships for Natrium Reactor Expansion

The framework agreement with Hyundai Engineering & Construction appoints the firm as the primary EPC contractor for up to eight future Natrium plants. This partnership focuses on securing completion, price, and performance guarantees to simplify commercial financing for the reactor fleet. By integrating Korean construction capabilities with TerraPower’s design, the companies intend to streamline global supply chains and improve site efficiency.

Simultaneously, a term sheet with SK Innovation outlines plans to develop Korea's first commercial Natrium facility. The collaboration will leverage digital twin technology and artificial intelligence to optimize long-term maintenance and plant operations. These moves follow TerraPower's existing commitment to deploy eight plants by 2035, including a notable agreement with Meta. The Natrium system, featuring a 345 MW sodium-cooled fast reactor and a molten salt storage unit, remains the only design capable of scaling output to 500 MW to meet peak grid demands.
