Studiosity embeds AI Assessment Scale to verify student authorship

As generative AI tools threaten traditional academic integrity, Sydney-based education firm Studiosity has integrated the Artificial Intelligence Assessment Scale (AIAS) into its platform. The move aims to replace unsustainable manual policing with a structured framework that guides educators in designing assessments where student cognitive development remains the primary objective.

Universities across 15 countries now use the Studiosity platform to move beyond basic detection, which leadership at the firm labels a dead end. By embedding the five-level AIAS framework directly into existing learning management system workflows, educators can define the permissible role of AI for specific tasks. This setup allows staff to pair design levels with authorship validation thresholds, effectively shifting the burden of proof from administrative surveillance to student-led verification.

Co-developers Dr. Mike Perkins and Dr. Jasper Roe designed the scale to provide a transparent language for AI usage. In practice, the integration requires students to complete structured checks that validate their own authorship before submission. According to Studiosity CEO Mike Larsen, this approach preserves the trust essential to learning while providing institutions with an auditable trail of graduate thinking. Chief Academic Officer Prof. Judyth Sachs noted that the system empowers faculty to maintain policy compliance without sacrificing the agency of either the teacher or the student.
