LG and NVIDIA Partner to Launch Next-Gen Humanoid Robot

A miniature humanoid robot signed by CEOs Kwang Mo Koo and Jensen Huang signals a shift from strategic planning to full-scale production. LG confirmed it will unveil a new bipedal humanoid in early 2026, leveraging NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T foundation model to anchor its push into physical AI and factory automation.

The partnership, solidified during an August 13 meeting at NVIDIA’s Santa Clara headquarters, moves beyond initial blueprints into a multi-tiered execution phase. LG’s upcoming humanoid will utilize NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor for onboard computing and the Halos for Robotics safety system. The project draws on the collective expertise of the 'One LG' group, integrating internal sensor, battery, and actuator technologies to refine the robot's mobility and reasoning capabilities.

Beyond humanoids, the collaboration targets immediate industrial deployment. LG plans to validate its wheel-based CLOiD robots within its Tennessee washing machine manufacturing plant before the end of the year. This real-world testing aims to feed data into LG’s proprietary Robot Foundation Model, supported by a new data factory platform powered by LG CNS PhysicalWorks.

Industrial and automotive sectors remain key pillars of the agreement. LG intends to build an 80 MW AI factory in Cheonan by 2028, using NVIDIA’s DSX architecture and Vera Rubin hardware to establish a global benchmark for AI-driven manufacturing. Simultaneously, LG is evolving its automotive business by integrating NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion into a new platform for AI-defined vehicles. By merging its existing infotainment software with autonomous driving technologies, the company aims to secure new contracts with global automotive OEMs, positioning itself as a turnkey provider for the next generation of intelligent mobility.
