Rumer Willis Relocates to Nashville Following Custody Ruling

Two months after securing primary physical custody of her three-year-old daughter, Louetta, actress Rumer Willis has moved from her former home to Nashville. The relocation marks a decisive step forward for the 37-year-old following a protracted legal battle with her ex-partner, Derek Richard Thomas.

The transition to Tennessee follows a court ruling that granted Willis primary physical custody while awarding the pair joint legal custody. Under the court’s order, both parents must participate in co-parenting counseling, utilize a designated communication app, and undergo a comprehensive custody evaluation to formalize long-term arrangements. Thomas was granted a structured visitation schedule, which initially required a nanny to be present during his time with the child.

This shift in her personal life comes after a period of intense public and private friction. Thomas had previously contested allegations regarding his behavior, while simultaneously accusing Willis of exploiting their daughter through sponsored social media content. Willis recently shared that her decision to fully separate from the relationship crystallized during the June 2024 wedding of her friend, stylist Maeve Reilly. Watching the couple exchange vows served as a turning point, leading the actress to realize her own partnership lacked a stable foundation. Despite the emotional toll of the legal proceedings, Willis described the move as a necessary leap of faith as she focuses on her daughter.
