Fernandes brings two decades of expertise to the role, having previously managed global engineering organizations at Xero, Coles Group, and SEEK. At Pepperstone, he will oversee the company's global engineering, security, and data architecture departments from the Melbourne headquarters. His primary mandate involves scaling internal systems to deliver faster, more reliable trading tools for users across 160 countries.
Group CEO Tamas Szabo noted that the appointment signals a strategic shift for the brokerage as it evolves into a broader fintech ecosystem. By prioritizing in-house development over third-party solutions, the company intends to offer more personalized experiences and deeper integration into digital asset markets. Fernandes will report directly to Szabo, focusing on building high-performance teams capable of supporting the firm’s aggressive expansion plans.
