Abby Lee Miller Calls Former Dance Moms Stars Ungrateful

Years after the final episode of Lifetime’s Dance Moms aired, Abby Lee Miller is firing back at former cast members who have labeled the reality series toxic. During a recent television interview, the 60-year-old dance instructor dismissed their claims as ungrateful, insisting the dancers owe their entire professional success to her training.

Miller expressed frustration that many stars of the eight-season series now attribute their past trauma and need for therapy to their time at the Abby Lee Dance Company. She maintains that without her rigorous instruction and the platform provided by the show, these performers would never have achieved their current status in the entertainment industry. She contrasted these critics with other former students now working on Broadway, noting that those who remain proud of their Pittsburgh roots understand the value of the education they received.

The rift between Miller and her former proteges remains deep, highlighted by her exclusion from the 2024 Lifetime reunion special. Miller claims the cast avoided the event because they could not face her, arguing that parents who complained about the show’s environment still chose to return to her studio year after year. Meanwhile, former contestant Nia Sioux has offered a different perspective in her 2025 memoir, detailing feelings of being ostracized and subjected to racial biases during her time on the show. Despite the ongoing public tension, Miller continues to operate her studio in Los Angeles and maintains a busy schedule of online courses and live appearances.
