Relativity Debuts claiR to Give Lawyers Conversational Data Access

Legal data intelligence firm Relativity has unveiled claiR, a conversational AI tool that allows attorneys to query entire case records in plain language. By keeping data contained within the RelativityOne environment, the platform aims to provide auditable, cited answers without the security risks associated with moving sensitive information to external systems.

The platform is currently undergoing testing through an Advanced Access program involving three major law firms: A&O Shearman, Foley & Lardner LLP, and K&L Gates. Unlike standard generative AI tools that require data migration, claiR operates directly on the existing matter record, ensuring that every insight remains governed by the platform's established security and permission protocols. Company leadership emphasizes that the tool is designed to augment legal judgment by providing instant access to facts that previously required manual surfacing by technical teams.

This release represents the latest expansion of Relativity’s AI suite, following earlier launches of aiR for Case Strategy and aiR Assist. The company plans to integrate these capabilities further into daily workflows, including a forthcoming move into Microsoft Word via its acquisition of Gavel. While the tool is currently in a refined development phase, Relativity expects to include claiR in its standard RelativityOne pricing at no additional cost once it reaches general availability, which is slated for early 2027.
