Neurocrine Study Links Ingrezza to Improved Daily Life for TD Patients

Patients suffering from tardive dyskinesia reported significant improvements in their overall quality of life and daily functionality after treatment with Neurocrine Biosciences’ Ingrezza. Published in the journal CNS Spectrums, the KINECT-PRO study findings highlight that these gains occur regardless of a patient’s initial movement severity or underlying psychiatric diagnosis.

The Phase 4 open-label trial followed 59 participants over 24 weeks, utilizing validated tools like the Tardive Dyskinesia Impact Scale (TDIS) to measure outcomes from the patient's perspective. By the end of the study, approximately 58% of patients reached the threshold for symptomatic remission, defined by clinician assessment as having minimal or no involuntary movements. These results suggest that even individuals with mild baseline symptoms experience meaningful relief in social, emotional, and physical domains when treated with the VMAT2 inhibitor.

"These findings add to the extensive body of evidence supporting the meaningful improvements Ingrezza has on movement severity and quality of life," said Dr. Sanjay Keswani, Chief Medical Officer at Neurocrine Biosciences. Beyond standard movement metrics, the study tracked improvements in health status and functional impairment, showing that the therapy addresses the broader burden of the condition rather than just physical motor symptoms.
