Amazon veteran Sekhar Boddu joins Coupang to lead automation

Boddu previously held high-level roles at Amazon, including Head of Technology for Global Mile and GTS. His decision to join the South Korean e-commerce giant stems from a desire to operate within a complex, high-volume environment. He noted that while building Nexus—a logistics operating system designed to address carrier inefficiencies—he realized the most significant impact could be achieved from inside an organization already pushing the frontiers of modern fulfillment.

By taking on this new role, Boddu is putting his independent software project on hold. He maintains that the challenges he aimed to solve with Nexus remain critical to the industry, but he believes the infrastructure at Coupang offers a unique opportunity to scale automation efforts far beyond what he could accomplish alone. The appointment is part of a broader trend of retail technology talent migrating toward platforms that prioritize end-to-end digital integration.
