New York Post Launches AI-Powered News Curator 'Hamilton'

The New York Post Media Group is integrating a generative AI assistant named Hamilton into its digital platforms, aiming to transform how readers interact with its journalism. Developed using Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the tool offers conversational search, personalized briefings, and tailored story discovery across its apps.

As the organization approaches its 225th anniversary, the introduction of Hamilton marks a shift toward interactive news consumption. The tool, named after founder Alexander Hamilton, functions as a digital curator that learns individual reading habits to surface relevant content. Users can access the service via a dedicated tab within The New York Post and The California Post applications, where they can query the newsroom’s archives in natural language.

Technically, the platform relies on Google’s secure, citation-backed infrastructure to ensure that AI-generated responses remain grounded in the publication's own reporting. According to chief technology officer Ariscielle Novicio, the project prioritizes reader relevance over generic automation. While the tool facilitates deeper engagement with columns and breaking news, the company emphasizes that all editorial content remains the product of human journalists, with the AI strictly prohibited from generating original reporting or independent perspectives.
