Since 2015, Resonant Sciences has specialized in low-observability technologies and radio frequency mission systems for U.S. national security. Cerberus acquired a stake in the company in 2023, overseeing a period of rapid expansion that saw the firm nearly double its technical workforce and transition several research projects into production-ready hardware.
Michael Palmer, a senior managing director at Cerberus, noted that the partnership focused on scaling operational capacity to meet the demands of government programs. Under the terms of the agreement, Resonant will retain its name and continue its existing work on autonomous systems and electronic countermeasures. J. Micah North, Resonant’s CEO, intends to leverage Joby’s resources to maintain the company’s agility while expanding its footprint in defense contracting. The acquisition is expected to finalize in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approval.
