FirmGuard Debuts SecureReset for Remote Endpoint Recovery

Beaverton-based FirmGuard has launched SecureReset, a tool enabling IT departments to remotely wipe and reimage compromised endpoints without an active operating system. The technology bypasses the traditional requirement for physical hardware access, targeting recovery times reduced from days to hours for distributed workforces facing ransomware or system failures.

Previously, a Windows device crippled by a critical crash or malicious encryption necessitated manual intervention, forcing staff to physically handle machines for forensic cleanup. SecureReset operates at the UEFI BIOS level, granting administrators full control even when the operating system is entirely inaccessible. Through the FirmGuard portal, teams can trigger sanitization processes compliant with NIST SP 800-88 and DoD 5220.22-M standards, followed by an automated Windows reinstallation. Administrators may also deploy custom PowerShell scripts during the Out of Box Experience to integrate third-party management tools immediately upon recovery.

Compatibility extends across major OEM hardware, including Dell, HP, and Lenovo systems. CEO Gerard Moore stated that the platform merges existing data destruction capabilities with new reimaging functions to stabilize incident response workflows. Beyond emergency recovery, the tool serves as a remote decommissioning utility for departing employees, ensuring data is sanitized before devices are reassigned or shipped. By standardizing these procedures, organizations can manage hardware turnover and catastrophic failures through a single remote interface, effectively eliminating logistical delays associated with distributed office environments.
