Public Interest Registry Unveils 2026 .ORG Impact Award Finalists

Thirty-five organizations and individual changemakers have been named finalists for the eighth annual .ORG Impact Awards. Selected from a pool of over 4,200 applicants across 145 countries, these groups represent a diverse spectrum of global efforts ranging from environmental conservation and hunger relief to educational access and community advocacy.

The Public Interest Registry, which manages the .ORG top-level domain, announced the shortlist across seven distinct categories, including community building, health, and environmental stewardship. For the first time in the program’s history, the organization has introduced 'Honorable Mentions' to recognize the high caliber of work found within an increasingly competitive applicant pool. Each finalist is slated to receive a $2,500 donation, with the ultimate .ORG of the Year winner set to be awarded $50,000.

Jon Nevett, CEO of the Public Interest Registry, noted that the growth of the awards reflects the expanding reach of mission-driven initiatives worldwide. The recipients will be honored during an event in Washington, D.C., on October 6, 2026. Hosted by Emmy-winning activist Karamo, the ceremony aims to highlight the efforts of those working to address complex social challenges through local and international grassroots programs. Beyond the immediate financial grants, the recognition is designed to bolster the visibility of these groups, helping them secure further partnerships and talent to scale their impact.
