Planet Fitness Faces Class Action Lawsuit Following Stock Price Plunge

A 31 percent single-day stock collapse has triggered a securities class action lawsuit against Planet Fitness, Inc. The Gross Law Firm is now seeking investors who purchased shares between November 6, 2025, and May 6, 2026, to join the litigation regarding alleged misleading marketing metrics.

The complaint alleges that Planet Fitness executives issued overly optimistic statements while concealing the failure of a new marketing strategy. According to the filing, the company’s messaging alienated its core demographic of fitness beginners and casual gym-goers, creating significant headwinds during the critical first-quarter sign-up period. These internal struggles rendered the firm's previously stated fiscal 2026 guidance and long-term financial targets unattainable.

The consequences became public on May 7, 2026, when the company slashed its full-year growth guidance, reducing same-store growth projections from 5% to 1%. Management also withdrew its three-year growth algorithm, which had been introduced only six months earlier. The company attributed the poor performance to an ineffective marketing campaign, alongside macroeconomic and weather-related factors. Investors saw the share price drop from $63.96 to $44.01 in a single trading session following the announcement. The deadline for shareholders to seek lead plaintiff status is September 14, 2026.
