Astana Crowns Champions as Games of the Future 2026 Concludes

Twelve days of physical and digital competition in Kazakhstan reached its finale on August 9, as 800 athletes from over 50 nations finalized a tournament that drew hundreds of millions of global viewers. The event, held across four Astana venues, distributed a prize pool exceeding US$4 million across eight distinct disciplines.

The tournament served as a high-stakes proving ground for the phygital movement, blending traditional physical performance with digital strategy. Competition remained fierce throughout the final matches, with 17 Gaming securing the Battle Royale crown and a US$300,000 top prize. Other notable victories included Wilders, who dominated the Phygital Basketball bracket, and NS Team, who claimed the Phygital Football title after overcoming last year’s winners, Quetzales-Armadillos.

Beyond the competitive stage, the event acted as a summit for international sporting diplomacy. Delegates from more than 60 countries, including representatives from the United Nations and various National Olympic Committees, gathered in Astana to discuss the trajectory of phygital sports. Dan Merkley, CEO of Phygital International, noted the event's role in establishing the hybrid discipline as a permanent fixture in the global sports landscape. With 289 distribution outlets broadcasting the action in over 20 languages, organizers view the Astana iteration as a milestone in the sport's rapid expansion.
