The company’s performance reflects a significant recovery in sales volume, particularly within its heavy-duty truck engine segment, which grew by 47.3% year-over-year. This growth comfortably outpaced the broader market trends reported by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. The marine and power generation business also contributed to the momentum, recording a 42% rise in unit sales as the firm expanded its reach into specialized industrial applications.
Profitability metrics improved alongside top-line growth. The company’s gross margin expanded to 17.1%, up from 14.3% in the same period last year, a gain management attributed to a favorable sales mix and reduced warranty expenses. While operating expenses rose—including a 24.5% increase in research and development spending—the company maintained disciplined control, leading to an operating profit of RMB 988.2 million.
Strategic expansion also defined the half-year period. China Yuchai secured operational control over Nanyue Fuel Injection Systems Co., Ltd., a move aimed at stabilizing the supply chain for critical powertrain components. Additionally, the firm continued to push into new energy markets with the launch of its flywheel range extender system in Hong Kong, signaling a shift toward integrated, cleaner propulsion technology for urban transport.
