The Lakewood, Colorado-based retailer, which now operates 172 stores across 22 states, attributed its performance to a combination of disciplined expense management and an aggressive store expansion strategy. Co-President Kemper Isely noted that the company opened three new locations during the quarter, with additional openings following the period's end. Net income for the quarter stood at $11.1 million, or $0.48 per diluted share, a slight dip from the $11.6 million reported in the same period last year.
Operational margins faced pressure during the quarter, with gross margin slipping to 29.3% from 29.9% a year ago. Management cited an unfavorable sales mix and increased freight costs as primary drivers for the compression. To bolster shareholder value, the company declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.15 per share, payable on September 2. Looking ahead, the company has refined its fiscal 2026 outlook, projecting a more conservative range for new store openings and comparable store sales growth as it navigates ongoing inflationary and labor market pressures.
