YMCA of the Rockies Hits $63 Million Milestone in Capital Campaign

Amid the peaks of Estes Park, Grammy-winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman joined supporters at Vision Summit 2026 to celebrate a major financial milestone for the YMCA of the Rockies. The organization has successfully raised over $63 million through its Climbing Higher campaign, aimed at revitalizing facilities for future generations.

The five-year fundraising initiative supports wide-ranging improvements across the Estes Park Center, Snow Mountain Ranch, and Camp Chief Ouray. These funds are designated to modernize outdoor recreation, youth development programs, and hospitality spaces used by more than 260,000 annual guests. During the summit, Chapman shared personal reflections on the organization’s role in fostering family connections and spiritual growth.

July marked a surge in physical upgrades, with four key venues officially dedicated. At the Estes Park Center, the Kathie Mennel Amphitheater received extensive accessibility and erosion control improvements, while the Sweet Memorial Program Building was refreshed to better serve youth activities. The Hempel Auditorium also saw significant audiovisual and comfort enhancements. Simultaneously, the Gisela Velarde Ley Chapel at Snow Mountain Ranch was upgraded to provide a more inclusive space for reflection and events.

CEO Julie Watkins emphasized that these investments are foundational to the YMCA’s long-term mission of creating accessible environments for connection. With the campaign maintaining strong momentum, the organization is now shifting its focus toward additional capital projects at its three primary locations. These efforts remain centered on the non-profit's core goal of providing a retreat space that serves families, conference groups, and volunteers nationwide.
