The awards program seeks to highlight the often-invisible efforts required to maintain effective public transportation, from frontline maintenance fixes to strategic rerouting that preserves commuter schedules. According to Transit Technologies CEO Gerry Leonard, the initiative aims to provide a stage for those whose work directly impacts rider reliability and community accessibility, ensuring their contributions are acknowledged by peers.
Recognition will be distributed across three distinct categories. The Rider Impact Award focuses on improvements to accessibility, safety, and the overall passenger experience. The Operational Excellence Award targets teams demonstrating high performance and innovation in daily system management, while the Community Leadership Award honors those who leverage transit to advance equity and local engagement. Nominations remain open through October 2, 2026, and recipients will be announced during the conference ceremony on October 29.
