College Park to Host Sixth Annual Latinas in Aviation Festival

The College Park Aviation Museum will transform into a hub for aerospace advocacy on September 26, hosting the Sixth Annual Latinas in Aviation Global Festival. Held during Hispanic Heritage Month, the free event highlights the professional journeys of women in aviation while unveiling the latest installment of the movement's flagship book series.

The festival, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Maryland airfield, serves as a platform for pilots, engineers, and air traffic controllers to share their career paths with the public. Organizers plan a range of interactive programming, including a weather-dependent fly-in, live music, and bilingual activities designed to bridge the gap between industry professionals and the next generation of aviators.

This year’s edition marks the release of Latinas in Aviation Vol. VI, featuring 26 new contributors. Beyond the book launch, the museum is introducing a children's title, Sofia and Aero’s Amazing Adventures at the College Park Aviation Museum, which traces the history of the world’s oldest continuously operating airport. To foster local engagement, the museum is also hosting the Flight Plan For My Future essay contest, open to Prince George's County students in grades 6 through 12. Museum Director Nadine Boksmati-Fattouh noted that the festival remains a vital community fixture for honoring those currently shaping the aerospace sector.
