Johnson arrives with a track record of rapid scaling, having previously guided Dot's Pretzels from $19 million to $250 million in annual sales before its $1.2 billion acquisition by Hershey in 2021. Founder Adam Farmer, who will transition to the role of Chairman, indicated that the new leadership will allow him to focus on brand acquisition and product development while Johnson manages operational scaling.
The capital infusion is earmarked for expanding national distribution and strengthening manufacturing partnerships for the company’s key assets, which include the WHISPS cheese crisp brand and a licensing deal with Cabot Creamery. The latter’s popcorn line currently ranks as the fastest-growing brand in U.S. food retail among the top 13 tracked by NielsenIQ. By leveraging this recent investment, The Farmer Companies aims to solidify its position as a dominant force in the premium cheese snacking category.
