Candidates must hold an MD or MD/PhD degree to be eligible for consideration. The selection committee, comprised of experts from the Harrington Discovery Institute Scientific Advisory Board and the ASCI Council, evaluates nominations based on innovation, creativity, and the potential for transformative patient impact. While institutional nominations and team submissions are encouraged, each application must designate a primary nominee.
The chosen recipient will receive the monetary award and a platform to share their findings with the broader medical community. This includes delivering the Harrington Prize Lecture at the 2027 Joint Meeting of the Association of American Physicians, the ASCI, and the American Physician Scientists Association, along with a presentation at the Harrington Discovery Institute Symposium. Furthermore, the winner will contribute a personal essay to the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Submissions remain open until September 14, 2026.
